CHERRY CUP (Pty) Ltd is a Private company formed by young men in Free State province with common goal of changing the lives of youth within the Thabo Mofutsanyane District and  Free State province through sports and various life changing activities.

Cherry Cup is a One Day Soccer Tournament that is integrated into the programme of the Cherry Festival that is a showcase held at Ficksburg annually. The Tournament was founded  in 2013 by Mr Lebohang Kali and it features Free State PSL teams, Lesotho international and local teams from Setsoto Municipality to take part. The purpose of hosting this spectacle is to expose our Local talented youth  in our communities to an exhibition of National standard, and to uplift our Community Economically,  Emotionally and Socially.

This event is modelled around world renowned events such as Macufe Cup, Cherry Festival,Ba2cada Games, Cherry Jazz Festival and so forth. We have the same scale in fun and  entertainment, but ours it’s just more affordable for everyone, and tailored to suit the needs of the  people in our Community and surrounding areas.

The centre of Meqheleng Stadium it’s a joy-land on that day where we have:

This is a great opportunity to give our community to enjoy weekend of fun with their Soccer Teams.

2021 after the national Lockdown Level 1 we hosted Thembinkosi Lorch development soccer games with local teams from four (4) towns of  our Local Municipality to take part and showcase their talent to our national standard guest  (Coaches/Scouters). With the assistance of Free  State Stars (Duncan Lechesa), Blackcross FC Team Manager, Thembinkosi Lorch, LFA, SAFA (Region)  and other, 13 best players were selected and  given opportunity to attend soccer trials to  various National and Provincial Football Teams. 

2022 we hosted Local Coaches workshop & Pĺayers Soccer Clinics development program 2 days before the tournament in partnership with Free  State PSL Legends and Coaches ( and Soccer Clinics for players). 

2023 we hosted 3 Free State ABC Motsepe/Hollywood bets League teams and 1 Lesotho international team, including 2 Local SAB Promotional League teams as part of development. We  also had Local Primary & Secondary Schools development Games, Local Teams Games, training program for Local Players Soccer Clinics/Festival two days before the main  event, partnered with PSL Legends Doctor Khumalo, Steve Lekoelea, Edward Motale, Thapelo Diau and others. 2024 we hosted 2 ABC Motsepe League Team and 2 Lesotho Premier League team, Local Teams and PSL Legends Doctor Khumalo and Edward Motale, we manage ro attract More than 3700 spectators.

2025 we will host 2 ABC Motsepe/NFD League Teams and 2 Lesotho Premier League team, 4 teams will play knockouts games and before final will have an exhibition game for 2 Local Hollywood Bets League Teams, Entertainment / Performances / Winner Price (No 1/2), Celebrity Appearance / Player Scouting. The tournament will be held at excellent facilities of Meqheleng Stadium in  Ficksburg with capacity of approximately 10 000, on Saturday 15 November 2025.

The programme is aimed to develop the youth and community of Setsoto Municipality, Thabo Mofutsanyane District and Free State Province through sports to deal with pressing socio – economic challenges plaguing the society. 

We believe that this event will give direction and stimulate passion for economic development to the community of Ficksburg and other surrounding areas. The Tournament is more than a soccer  showcase; but a legacy to the youth of Ficksburg that will continue to change the lives of the youth for many years to come.
